LIBRARY NEWSIt’s official, at least 50% of the Summer Reading Program participants have completed one reading log, and the Pool Party is scheduled for Monday, August 11 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A short award ceremony will be held at 6:45 p.m. to announce top readers as well as the 2008 King and Queen. The final event of the 2008 Catch the Reading Bug Program will be held this Monday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m. Indiana Bones is coming to town. Mike McCartney a.k.a. Indiana Bones is a storyteller who digs up old stories based on ancient myths and past civilizations. Come to the Cultural Events Center and enjoy the program and remember this will also be the last day for participants to turn in completed reading logs and purchase prizes. The Lamar Library Board and Friends of the Library will also be hosting a summer musical performance this Friday July 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cultural Events Center. According to The Cañon Rose Acoustic Society “Jerry Barlow is not only highly admired for his musical talent, but his rapport with his audience (both young and old) is overwhelming.” So come enjoy a free concert on the 25th. CD’s of Jerry Barlow’s music will be available during a short intermission and after the show. |
